Stratasys joins Additive Manufacturing Green Trade Association

Stratasys has become active at the Additive Manufacturing Green Trade Association (AMGTA). This non-profit organization wants to stimulate sustainability in the AM industry and will therefore start LCA projects, among other things. Stratasys is one of the founders.

The Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA) will be making its public appearance for the first time to a wide audience during the American 3D printing trade fair Rapid + TCT in mid-September in Chicago. Stratasys is one of the Founding Members of AMGTA. The organization is open to any manufacturer in the AM industry and other stakeholders. The condition is that they must meet the sustainability requirements regarding their production process.

Produce more consciously

Stratasys CEO Yoav Zeif thinks that 3D printing helps companies produce more consciously. At the same time, they can improve their agility and flexibility. “The new global economy requires companies to adapt and solve unexpected problems while remaining committed to environmental conservation,” he says. Additive manufacturing offers the resilience that manufacturing companies are looking for. This can strengthen local supply chains, which leads to... less transportation leads to less waste and lower CO2 emissions and at the same time increases the agility of the companies. Yoav Zeif sees it as a mission for Stratasys to translate 3D printing for customers into meaningful applications where added value is generated with digital production processes. AMGTA will, among other things, initiate LCA projects (Lifecycle Analysis) in the 3D printing industry. These should contribute to greater understanding of how 3D printing is a critical success factor for a manufacturing industry that is moving towards more sustainability.

Anchoring in the business strategy

Stratasys itself has also chosen to anchor the sustainability theme more strongly in its business strategy. The company appoints four of the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a cornerstone of sustainability policy. These are: Responsible Consumption and Production; Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; Climate Action and Quality; Education. To this end, the group will define measurable goals that will become one of the focus areas in the strategy in 2022. The 3D printer manufacturer also appoints Rosa Coppens as Vice President of Sustainability. This gives sustainability a face at a strategic level.
