New materials for lifelike prototypes

With the three new materials for the Stratasys J7 and J8 Polyjet 3D printers make prototypes and anatomical models look even more lifelike. Product designers can now print prototypes that have the look and feel and flexibility of the final product.

This is possible with the new materials Agilus30™ Cyan, Agilus30 Magenta and Agilus30 Yellow. “Using these new materials, our customers can achieve a superior level of design – from color to texture to flexibility, further expanding their 3D printing capabilities and allowing them to design without limitations,” said Shamir Shoham, Vice President of Design at Stratasys.

A shoe printed with the new Agilus 30 materials not only has lifelike colors, but is also flexible thanks to the new materials.

Multimaterial 3D printers

The J7 and J8 3D printers have been developed to print multiple materials in one build job, up to a maximum of 8. Designers can therefore combine the new materials with the extensive existing range of materials for these full color printers. The Agilus 30 Colors are an addition to this. They add the option to print flexible products in full color. You can also set the exact shore value for the materials. In this way, the prototypes come even closer to the end products. According to Shamir Shoham, some 3D printed models are so realistic that they are indistinguishable from the end products.

J8 printers for medical applications

The J8 series of 3D printers from Stratasys is not only used for product development, for example for packaging or prototypes of consumer electronics. They are also frequently used in the medical sector to print anatomical models. Due to the small layer thickness of 0.014 mm, fine details and smooth surfaces come into their own. These medical models can be used for training purposes as well as to properly prepare complex medical interventions. It is here that the lifelike colors offer an important advantage, just like full color printing. The high productivity ensures that the realistic models are available in a short time.
